Paintings 1987-1993 | Pablo Luis GonzálezThe beginning. Or, perhaps, one of the beginnings. Red, White, Blue: Adams' place of birth was made at about the same time than Homage to an unknown artist. The Adams of the title does not refer to Gerry Adams, the leader of Sinn Fein, but to a mythical Adams, the unknown artist of the title, a character of a book that was to be written by a friend, but never was. It was going to be about Ireland, but also England and France. The other paintings were formal and colour explorations a la manera de Balthus, Miró. Silence, my dying cat Blackie used to jump onto my lamp as I was painting it. I wish I were a dolphin was a sketch for Silence.
