Kate, Kate, Kate, the one and only one, Kate Moss...

A Chronology

If stories do have a beginning, where would this particular one
start?

In 1993, the year I was swept away with Obsession,
the obsession,
when Kate became more than just a word, the cheekbones of her Katy
face on the images displayed in front of me filling my field of
vision?

Stop it! painting

In 1987,
the year I visited the
ancient Egyptian effigies of Isis,
depicted as half woman, half Abysinian Kat,
in the Vatican Museum?

Or much earlier, in 1947, when I was born?

There are many windows in my studio.
kates eyes
This is one.

A mirror was recycled for this work, the second painting in the series. This explains the constantly untidy state of my hair.
Layering techniques were borrowed from Photoshop.

delusion

"Stop It!"

Obsession over nude Kate

The first painting of the series dates back to 1995-96.
Like a fairy tale, once upon a time...
Princes Charles proposed to Lucien Freud to exchange a watercolour for an oil painting. Freud's initial response was to hint that he could have painted a female bottom for the exchange. He may have not painted it. Here I come, a Southamerican lustful male, a Kate's ad for Calvin Klein, and my even more lustful male cat.
This work is also dedicated to Lucien Freud, Kate's flesh having been painted mixing the colours with Cremnitz white.

desire

"Obsession"

Desire oil painting: black cat looking at Kates bottom
Sepia toned black and white photograph set upon carved cross in metal glazed frame

"Death of an Obsession, Carving of a Painting"

was created for the exhibition "Birth and Death", held at the ArtLink Exchange Gallery in the early autumn of 1997.

"Obsession for Pablo"

decay

is a collage made out of a sudden impulse on a Friday night, after a beautiful unknown young woman gave me a rose and a kiss.

Oil painting of Kate as a little girl

Exorcism, yet I am still hooked on you, Kate, oh Kate,
those cheekbones, that ironic sulky pouting mouth!
The eyes, the eyes, the eyes...

The idea of taking a bath of cold champagne in winter with K... Ka...
Kate... is still not very appealing,
not even with you,
Kat, Cat...

You see, delusion, desire, decay...

Death?

I am such an ugly cockroach.

What shall it profit a man, if he should gain the whole world and lose his own soul.

kate's pics were nicked from the calvin klein's lot, i-d magazine, kate's own book, and fed into a hungry pc with photoshop. thanks to you all! thanks to me, as i have to endure my own obsessive presence even when i am sleeping. i wish i could say i have photographed her, but who said that life is fair?
